An award-winning Lincoln photographer has opened a photography and gifts shop in the historic Bailgate area of the city that will feature local artists work with backing from the Prince's Trust.

A real achievement, especially in this sometimes fickle field of fashion and surviving at least two recessions, including the latest. Chantel is recognised by costomers as one of the best places to shop for shoes in Lincoln.

For the last eight years the shop has been owned and run by local business women Deborah Downing and Tessa Hope. Deborah and Tessa have a talent for recognising what people want from their shop. Like most independents Chantal has to work at being different. To achive this, they ensure their collection offers a diverse range of high end a stylish Italian, Spanish, French and German labels which are exclusive to Chantel.
We asked the girls about this season's trends . This is what they said:
- Less is more, the styling is simple but very sharp
- The new season's collection is striking, styles are dominated by shades of black, navy and grey in both leather and suede.
- Long boots are big news this season. Gone are the days we wear boots to keep warm! Its now vogue!
- This season sees the revival of navy and we have put this into our collection of suede boots - very chic!
- Accessories are a must have - necklaces are long and elegant in colours of black, greys and berries to complement the colours of the season.
- Stylish bags from Longchamps Paris complete the look and make a great statement this autumn.
As anyone who has shopped there knows, the owners of Chantel are obviously passionate about shoes and design. Service is always knowledgeable which is just what you would expect from an independent boutique.
